Bulk assign rack and shelf from CSV

When to use this: you already have stock in the warehouse and a spreadsheet of where each SKU lives (rack + shelf). This does not create inventory.

How to get there

Admin → Platform → Data Migration, then the Inventory tab (or the Products tab, same tool).

Steps

1. Create racks and shelves first under Inventory → Settings → Warehouse Layout.
2. Open Admin → Platform → Data Migration.
3. Choose Inventory (or Products) and click Bulk Rack & Shelf Assign.
4. Select the store/warehouse.
5. Download the CSV template if needed. Columns:
   • sku — product SKU (barcode is accepted if SKU does not match)
   • rack_name — layout rack name, e.g. A or H
   • shelf_name — Shelf 03, 03, or 3
6. Upload the CSV, map columns, then Apply Locations.
7. Download the report for any SKUs that were skipped or failed.

Rules

Result	Meaning
Updated	Every inventory lot for that SKU in the selected warehouse was tagged to the shelf
Skipped	SKU exists but has no inventory in that warehouse
Failed	Missing columns, unknown SKU, unknown rack/shelf, or duplicate SKU in the file
